A violent incident at a rubber manufacturing facility in central Japan sent shockwaves through the local community on Friday after a man allegedly attacked workers with a knife and a chemical substance. Authorities confirmed multiple injuries and the arrest of the suspect at the scene.
Attack at Industrial Facility
According to emergency officials, the assault occurred inside the Yokohama Rubber Company plant located in Mishima, in Shizuoka Prefecture. Eight people were stabbed during the incident and rushed to nearby hospitals. Five of the victims were reported to be in serious condition, while others sustained less severe injuries.
In addition to the stabbings, seven more individuals were harmed after the attacker reportedly threw a liquid believed to be bleach, causing chemical-related injuries.
Suspect Arrested, Investigation Ongoing
Local police arrested a 38-year-old man at the factory on suspicion of attempted murder. Investigators said the suspect appeared to have prior connections to the workplace. Media reports noted that he was wearing what looked like a gas mask and was carrying a large survival-style knife during the attack.
