Court Hearings Delayed in Virginia Shooting Case
Court appearances for Elijah Bieniemy, the 27-year-old son of Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, have been postponed as he undergoes a mental health evaluation ordered by the court.
Elijah Bieniemy is facing multiple felony charges following a shooting incident at the family’s Virginia home that left his mother, Mia Bieniemy, with multiple gunshot injuries. Authorities confirmed that the investigation remains active, and no motive has been publicly disclosed.
Mental Health Evaluation Puts Court Case on Hold
According to court records, a scheduled motions hearing and a preliminary hearing originally planned for August 31 have both been delayed until the mental health assessment is completed.
Elijah Bieniemy remains in custody at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center while awaiting further legal proceedings. He has been charged with:
- Malicious wounding
- Use of a firearm during the commission of a felony
- Discharging a firearm inside a dwelling
Officials have not announced when the hearings will be rescheduled.
Eric Bieniemy Remains Away From Chiefs
Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy has stepped away from team activities to be with his family during the ongoing situation.
Head coach Andy Reid said the coaching staff has temporarily divided Bieniemy’s responsibilities while emphasizing that supporting his family is the priority. Reid added that the organization remains in contact with Bieniemy and will welcome him back when the time is right.
Mia Bieniemy Continues Recovery
There has been encouraging news regarding Mia Bieniemy’s condition. She has been released from the intensive care unit and is continuing her recovery after suffering multiple gunshot wounds during the incident.
