Tyler Robinson Allegedly Made Repeated Confessions, Court Documents Claim

Utah prosecutors say Tyler Robinson repeatedly admitted responsibility for the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, according to newly filed court documents presented ahead of a key hearing in the case.

The prosecution alleges the 23-year-old made at least 11 separate admissions through handwritten notes, text messages, online chats, and conversations with people close to him. Robinson has pleaded not guilty, and the allegations remain subject to court proceedings.

Prosecutors Detail Messages and Physical Evidence

According to prosecutors, several of the alleged admissions were sent through Discord and in messages to Robinson’s former roommate. In one message, Robinson allegedly stated that he had taken the opportunity to kill Kirk, while other communications reportedly expressed regret and referenced the incident.

Investigators also claim DNA evidence links Robinson to items recovered during the investigation. Authorities allege the shooting was carried out using his grandfather’s rifle, which prosecutors say was connected to evidence collected after the attack.

Alleged Motive and Next Steps in the Case

Prosecutors argue the killing was motivated by political and personal differences, pointing to Robinson’s reported views and personal relationships as factors they believe influenced the alleged crime. Court filings state the prosecution intends to use these details to establish motive during trial.

Robinson’s legal team disputes the allegations and maintains his innocence. The defense is expected to challenge the prosecution’s evidence before the court determines whether the case will move forward to trial. If convicted, Robinson could face the death penalty under Utah law.
