Oklahoma Police Arrest Suspect in Arcadia Lake Party Shooting That Left 1 Dead and 22 Injured aaa 57

Authorities in Oklahoma have arrested an 18-year-old suspect following a mass shooting at a crowded party near Arcadia Lake in Edmond that left one person dead and at least 22 others injured. Police said the violence erupted during a large “Sunday Funday” gathering attended mostly by young adults. Investigators believe the shooting may have started after an argument escalated into gang-related violence. The incident has become one of Oklahoma’s deadliest mass shootings of 2026.

Police Identify Suspect After Deadly Arcadia Lake Shooting

Edmond police confirmed the arrest of Jaylan A. Davis, 18, who now faces charges connected to the deadly shooting. Authorities said the charges are expected to be upgraded to felony murder following the death of 18-year-old Avianna Smith-Gray, a high school senior who was fatally shot during the chaos. Investigators reported that more than 80 rounds were fired after tensions between groups at the party escalated. Officials also warned that additional suspects may still be involved as the investigation continues.

Large Party Turned Chaotic After Gunfire Broke Out

The shooting happened Sunday night at Spring Creek Park near Arcadia Lake, a popular recreational area northeast of Oklahoma City. Witnesses described scenes of panic as hundreds of partygoers tried to flee through the wooded lakeside area while gunfire erupted. Emergency crews transported multiple victims to nearby hospitals, while others arrived in private vehicles seeking treatment. Several victims were reported in serious condition, including juveniles injured during the attack.

Investigators Examine Social Media Promotion and Event Security

Police said the event had been heavily promoted on social media and drew a much larger crowd than expected. Authorities also noted that organizers did not obtain proper permits for the gathering, raising questions about security and crowd control measures. Investigators are reviewing videos, social media posts, and witness statements to determine how the violence unfolded and whether gang activity played a role. Community leaders and residents have since called for stronger safety measures at large public events around Oklahoma City.
