A California chiropractor has been sentenced to six years in state prison after being convicted of sexually battering several female patients during appointments. Fernando Juarez Gomez Jr., who operated the now-closed Limitless Functional Therapy in Ventura, was accused of using his professional position to touch patients inappropriately under the guise of providing chiropractic treatment.
Investigation Began After Patients Reported Sexual Battery
The investigation into Gomez began after two female patients reported that they had been sexually battered during appointments at his Ventura practice.
According to prosecutors, investigators determined that Gomez had inappropriately touched female patients in areas that were not connected to legitimate chiropractic treatment. The alleged misconduct took place between 2022 and 2024.
Gomez was arrested on March 21, 2024. Following his arrest, additional women came forward and provided information to investigators about their experiences.
The case involved patients who had sought treatment for physical pain and other concerns, placing Gomez in a position of professional trust.
Convicted of Multiple Felony Counts
On June 24, Gomez was convicted of five felony counts of sexual battery involving four different women following a jury trial.
He also pleaded guilty to a separate battery charge involving another woman. The court further determined that Gomez had taken advantage of a position of trust while committing the offenses.
Gomez was sentenced on August 14 to six years in California state prison.
The former chiropractor’s business, Limitless Functional Therapy in Ventura, is now closed.
Prosecutors Say He Abused His Position of Trust
Senior Deputy District Attorney Twyla Atmore, who is part of the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office Sexual Assault Unit, said Gomez presented his treatment methods as a way to help women reduce pain and improve their athletic performance.
Prosecutors argued that the conduct went far beyond legitimate treatment and that Gomez used the professional setting to engage in unwanted sexual touching.
The six-year prison sentence concludes the criminal proceedings arising from the charges involving the five women.
The case highlights the importance of professional boundaries in healthcare settings and the serious legal consequences that can follow when a practitioner abuses a position of trust.
