A Delaware woman is facing several criminal charges after an altercation at a Newark storage facility allegedly escalated into a violent attack involving a hammer and chokehold.

Delaware State Police said Amber Goldsborough, 35, of Townsend, was arrested following the incident at Storage Rentals of America on Stafford Way on Tuesday, August 18, 2026. Authorities said the confrontation began after Goldsborough was informed that she was no longer permitted to conduct business at the facility.

Argument Allegedly Escalated Into Physical Attack

Police said Goldsborough became involved in a verbal dispute with an employee after being told she could no longer do business at the storage facility. During the confrontation, she allegedly threatened the employee before striking the worker multiple times with a hammer.

Investigators further allege that Goldsborough placed the employee in a chokehold, restricting the worker’s ability to breathe.

A witness reportedly stepped in to separate Goldsborough from the employee. Police said Goldsborough then allegedly assaulted the witness as well.

The employee and witness eventually managed to get inside the business and lock the door. According to investigators, Goldsborough remained outside and continued making threats.

Police Arrest Goldsborough After Struggle

Troopers were called to the Newark storage facility at approximately 10 a.m. after receiving a report of a fight in progress.

When police attempted to arrest Goldsborough, authorities said she physically resisted. Troopers were eventually able to take her into custody following a brief struggle.

The employee was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries that were described as non-life-threatening. The witness declined medical treatment at the scene.

Goldsborough faces eight charges, including possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, second-degree assault, aggravated menacing, strangulation, resisting arrest with force or violence, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, terroristic threatening and third-degree criminal trespassing.

She was committed to the Delaware Department of Correction and is being held on a $74,001 cash bond.

The allegations remain accusations, and Goldsborough is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
