Deputy U.S. Marshal Dies While Serving Arrest Warrant in Louisiana
A Deputy U.S. Marshal was killed during a law enforcement operation in Alexandria, Louisiana, after a suspect allegedly opened fire while officers attempted to execute an arrest warrant. Authorities confirmed that the suspect was later taken into custody following a prolonged standoff and has been charged with the murder of a federal officer.
The fallen officer was identified as Deputy U.S. Marshal Drew Hanson, who was part of a joint operation involving the U.S. Marshals Service and local law enforcement officers. The arrest team was attempting to apprehend Clarence A. Frazier Jr., 48, who had reportedly failed to appear in court for pending criminal charges.
Suspect Barricaded Himself Before Being Arrested
According to investigators, officers announced their presence and entered the residence after identifying themselves. Once inside, they encountered the suspect barricaded in a bedroom. Officials allege that Frazier opened fire, striking Deputy Marshal Hanson during the exchange.
Following the shooting, law enforcement surrounded the home, leading to a standoff that lasted several hours. The suspect was eventually taken into custody after sustaining injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment.
Federal Murder Charge Filed
Federal prosecutors have charged Frazier with the murder of a federal law enforcement officer. If convicted, he could face life imprisonment or the death penalty under federal law.
