Costco Recalls 32 Degrees Heated Socks After Reports of Burn Injuries

Costco Recalls 32 Degrees Heated Socks After Reports of Burn Injuries och

A major product recall has been issued for heated socks sold at Costco after multiple consumers reported burn injuries. Safety officials warn that the battery-powered socks may pose a serious risk under certain conditions, prompting an urgent recall and refund advisory for customers.

Over 200,000 Heated Socks Recalled Nationwide

More than 207,000 pairs of 32 Degrees heated socks have been recalled following reports of injuries linked to their use. The recall applies to socks sold at Costco stores and online between August 2025 and March 2026.

The socks, designed to keep feet warm in cold conditions, come with built-in heating elements and battery packs. However, safety authorities determined that under certain circumstances, the product could become hazardous.

Officials confirmed that at least 14 heat-related incidents were reported, including 13 cases involving first- and second-degree burns.

The widespread recall highlights growing concerns around battery-powered wearable products and their safety during everyday use.

Burn Risk Linked to Heat, Friction, and Moisture

According to safety findings, the socks can cause burns when exposed to a combination of heat, pressure, friction, and moisture—especially during high-intensity activities.

Experts believe that this combination can increase the temperature beyond safe levels, potentially leading to skin injuries. The exact cause—whether related to the battery pack, heating elements, or prolonged use—has not been definitively confirmed.

Consumers reported incidents occurring during activities like walking, exercising, or wearing tight footwear such as boots, which may have intensified the heat buildup.

The issue underscores the importance of testing wearable tech under real-world conditions where multiple factors interact simultaneously.

Customers Urged to Stop Use Immediately

Authorities are advising all customers who purchased the affected socks to stop using them immediately. Consumers can return the product to Costco for a full refund, regardless of condition.

The recalled socks were sold exclusively through Costco, and refunds are being processed directly by the retailer. Customers can identify the product by the “32° HEAT” branding on the battery pack, packaging, and user manual.

Officials stress that continued use of the product could lead to serious injury, urging prompt action from consumers.

As investigations continue, the recall serves as a reminder of the risks associated with heated wearable devices and the need for increased consumer awareness.
