Toledo Festival Turns Chaotic After Gunfire Injures 12
A community celebration in Toledo, Ohio, turned into a scene of panic after gunfire broke out near the annual Old West End Festival on Saturday evening, leaving 12 people injured.
Police said the shooting happened shortly after 5:30 p.m. while hundreds of visitors were attending the popular event, which features live music, food vendors, and home tours. Emergency crews quickly responded and transported victims to nearby hospitals.
Authorities reported that two of the injured remain in critical condition. The victims range in age from 14 to 61, with many in their early twenties.
Investigators Believe Multiple Shooters Were Involved
According to police officials, preliminary findings suggest at least two individuals exchanged gunfire in the crowded area. No arrests had been made as of Sunday, and investigators are continuing their search for those responsible.
Law enforcement agencies have asked anyone who attended the festival to share photos, videos, or any information that could help identify the suspects.
Extra security personnel and off-duty officers had been assigned to the event, but officials said the violence disrupted one of Toledo’s most well-known annual gatherings.
Festival Organizers Cancel Remaining Events
Following discussions with city leaders and police, organizers announced that the remainder of the Old West End Festival would be canceled.
Community leaders expressed sadness over the incident and emphasized the need for safe public spaces where families can gather without fear. State officials also condemned the violence and praised first responders for their rapid response.
Authorities said the investigation remains active, and additional updates are expected as detectives continue gathering evidence.
