EL PASO, Texas — Federal authorities have arrested two individuals as part of a human smuggling investigation following the discovery of a stash house in El Paso. The operation resulted in the detention of dozens of undocumented migrants and highlighted ongoing efforts to combat organized human smuggling networks along the U.S.-Mexico border.
Law enforcement officials said the arrests stemmed from an investigation into a residence allegedly being used to conceal migrants who had entered the country illegally. Authorities continue to gather evidence as the case remains under investigation.
Dozens of Migrants Found at Stash House
According to investigators, officers executed an operation at the suspected stash house where they located approximately 31 undocumented migrants. The individuals were taken into custody for immigration processing.
Officials stated that stash houses are commonly used by smuggling organizations to temporarily hide migrants before transporting them to other locations across the country. Authorities emphasized that such operations often expose migrants to dangerous and overcrowded conditions.
Human Smuggling Investigation Continues
The two suspects arrested in connection with the case are expected to face federal human smuggling-related charges. Investigators have not ruled out additional arrests as they continue examining the organization’s activities and identifying others who may have been involved.
Federal agencies said disrupting human smuggling networks remains a priority and encouraged the public to report suspicious activity that may be linked to illegal transportation or harboring of undocumented migrants.
