Qatar Condemns Israeli Strike on Iran-Linked Gas Facilities
Qatar has strongly criticized the reported Israeli targeting of natural gas facilities connected to Iran’s massive South Pars gas field, describing the attack as a dangerous escalation in an already tense Middle East conflict.
In an official statement, Qatar’s Foreign Ministry said that striking infrastructure associated with the South Pars field was a “dangerous and irresponsible” action during a period of heightened military tensions in the region. Officials warned that such attacks could have serious consequences for both regional stability and global energy markets.
The South Pars field—shared between Iran and Qatar—is the largest natural gas reservoir in the world and plays a critical role in global energy supply.
Warning Over Global Energy Security
Qatar emphasized that targeting energy infrastructure poses a major risk not only to the countries involved but also to global energy security. The gas field’s infrastructure supports significant production and supply chains that impact markets far beyond the Gulf region.
Government spokesperson Majed Al-Ansari said that attacks on such vital facilities threaten the environment, the safety of people in the region, and the stability of international energy supplies.
Officials stressed that military actions against oil and gas infrastructure could lead to disruptions in production and supply, potentially affecting global fuel prices and energy availability.
Calls for Restraint and De-Escalation
Qatar urged all parties involved in the ongoing conflict to avoid targeting critical infrastructure and to respect international law. The country called for immediate restraint and diplomatic efforts to prevent further escalation.
Authorities in Doha said preserving stability in the Gulf region is essential, particularly given the strategic importance of shared energy resources. The government reiterated its position that attacks on vital economic facilities could widen the conflict and create broader economic and environmental consequences.
As tensions continue to rise across the Middle East, the incident highlights growing concerns that military confrontation could increasingly affect global energy networks and regional security.
