Southport Killer Charged After Alleged Assaults on Prison Staff
The man convicted of the 2024 Southport child murders is facing fresh criminal charges after authorities accused him of attacking prison staff while serving his life sentence.
The 19-year-old, who is serving a minimum of 52 years in custody for the fatal stabbing of three young girls during a dance class in Southport, has been charged with several offences linked to separate incidents inside prison. The new allegations include attempted grievous bodily harm, assaults on emergency workers, and possessing an offensive weapon while incarcerated.
Multiple Charges Linked to Incidents Inside Prison
According to police, the latest charges relate to incidents that allegedly occurred during 2025 while the inmate was being held in custody. Investigators claim the offences include an attempted grievous bodily harm case, assaults on prison staff classified as emergency workers, and unlawful possession of a weapon inside the prison.
The accused is expected to appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on September 11, where the new charges will be addressed.
Transfer to High-Security Psychiatric Hospital Draws Attention
The latest legal developments come shortly after the prisoner was transferred from Belmarsh Prison to Broadmoor, a high-security psychiatric hospital.
