Police Intensify Search in Shocking Greece Suitcase Death Investigation

Greek authorities have launched an intensive search for a man believed to be an important person of interest after the body of a 38-year-old Scottish woman was discovered inside a suitcase in Athens.

The victim, identified as Elisabeth-Jane Ross, was found on July 18 inside an abandoned building in the Kypseli district of the Greek capital. Police say the investigation is still in its early stages, with forensic experts working to determine the exact cause of her death.

Authorities are looking for a homeless man known as Markos, who is described as being around 40 years old with dark hair and distinctive tattoos covering both arms. Investigators believe he had been staying in the abandoned building where the suitcase was found and has not been seen since the discovery.

Investigators Reconstruct Victim’s Final Days

According to investigators, Ross had been staying in the Athens suburb of Keratsini before leaving on July 15 to meet friends in the Kypseli area.

Police say her mobile phone remained active until the morning of July 18, prompting detectives to carefully examine her final movements, phone activity, and anyone she may have met during her last days.

Officers are also interviewing witnesses and reviewing available evidence as they work to establish a complete timeline leading up to her death.

Forensic Tests Expected to Provide Crucial Answers

The Hellenic Police homicide division has ordered post-mortem and toxicology examinations to determine how Ross died. Officials have not yet confirmed whether her death resulted from homicide, accident, or another cause, and investigators are awaiting laboratory results before drawing conclusions.

Authorities continue to appeal for information that could help locate the missing man and clarify the circumstances surrounding the case. The investigation remains active as detectives pursue multiple leads.
