Jamar Goff, the foster son of Food Network personality Ree Drummond, has been arrested in Alabama and is facing several charges following an encounter with law enforcement. The 23-year-old was booked into the Jefferson County Jail in Birmingham after authorities accused him of possessing methamphetamine, attempting to evade police and assaulting an officer.
According to jail and court records, Goff was booked in September and is being held on a $37,000 bond. The allegations remain subject to the legal process, and the charges do not establish guilt.
Jamar Goff Faces Multiple Charges
Goff is facing charges that include unlawful possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, attempting to elude a law enforcement officer and assault involving a police officer. Court documents allege that authorities later found suspected methamphetamine in his possession.
The incident reportedly began when an officer responded to a report involving a suspicious person at the University of Alabama at Birmingham campus. Authorities said Goff was found asleep near a fountain and was questioned about why he was there.
According to court documents, Goff allegedly told the officer that he was waiting to purchase “ice,” a term commonly used for methamphetamine. Police later discovered that he allegedly had an outstanding warrant.
Police Describe Pursuit and Alleged Assault
Authorities said officers later located Goff and attempted to take him into custody. According to the documents, he allegedly ran from officers and eventually reached an area near a hospital.
During the encounter, police allege that Goff struck an officer with an open-handed blow. Officers subsequently detained him and searched his belongings.
Authorities reported finding a glass pipe with residue in a backpack and suspected methamphetamine. Court records also allege that approximately 1.8 grams of methamphetamine were found on Goff during a subsequent search.
Goff was subsequently taken for medical evaluation before being booked into the Jefferson County Jail. His bond was set at $37,000, according to jail records.
Goff’s Connection to Ree Drummond
Goff became part of Ree Drummond’s family as a foster son in 2018. Drummond, widely known as “The Pioneer Woman,” previously explained that Goff became close to her family through her sons, Bryce and Todd.
She has also written about how an ATV accident involving Goff brought him even closer to the family. Following the accident, he suffered a serious foot injury and underwent surgery before eventually recovering.
Goff later pursued college football and began playing for the University of Central Oklahoma Broncos in 2021. Drummond publicly celebrated his college football decision at the time.
As of the latest available records, Goff remains subject to the ongoing legal process. No finding of guilt has been made in connection with the current charges.
