Missouri Man Arrested After Fatal Stabbing of Grandmother, Injuring Family Dogs d7458168 746b 44af aa54 f6e4046be7c4 house3

A 37-year-old man in Missouri was taken into custody following a violent incident that left his 81-year-old grandmother dead and her two French bulldogs injured. Authorities say the suspect fled the scene and later triggered a tense standoff with law enforcement before his arrest. The case has shocked the St. Louis community and led to multiple criminal charges.

Grandmother Killed, Dogs Wounded in Alleged Assault

Police in St. Louis County responded to a home on Jenny Drive early Sunday morning, after the victim’s family found her unresponsive on the floor, surrounded by blood. Investigators later determined that the elderly woman had suffered multiple stab wounds to her head, neck and chest, resulting in her death at the scene.

The victim’s two French bulldogs were also found injured from stab wounds, but officials say both animals are expected to survive.

Suspect Flees, Later Faces Police in Standoff

Law enforcement identified the victim’s grandson, 37-year-old Ronald Allred, as the primary suspect after learning he had been at the home and stayed overnight prior to the attack.

Allred reportedly left the scene before authorities arrived and was later spotted near a local cemetery. Officers attempted to make contact, leading to a brief exchange in which a police firearm was discharged — though no one was struck by the shot.

Later in the afternoon, Allred was located at a nearby gas station where he barricaded himself inside his vehicle. After several hours, tactical units were able to bring the situation to an end and take him into custody.

Charges and Community Reaction

Allred now faces first-degree murder, armed criminal action, and multiple animal abuse charges. He has also been charged with resisting arrest. Authorities say that once detained, he admitted to the stabbing during a police interview.

A cash-only bond has been set at $500,000, and a preliminary court hearing has been scheduled for later this month.

Neighbors described the victim as a beloved long-time resident known for her warmth and resilience, including her battle with cancer. Many in the community expressed deep sorrow and disbelief over the tragic loss.
