Legal Battle Emerges One Year After Malcolm-Jamal Warner’s Death
A year after the death of actor Malcolm-Jamal Warner, his widow, Tenisha Warner, has filed a lawsuit seeking more than $1.2 million from his mother, Pamela Warner. The legal action centers on alleged unpaid financial obligations outlined in the couple’s premarital agreement and claims involving the Warner Family Trust.
Tenisha says the lawsuit became necessary to protect her and the couple’s young daughter after estate matters remained unresolved following the actor’s passing.
Widow Claims Unfulfilled Financial Commitments
According to court filings, Tenisha alleges Malcolm-Jamal Warner agreed to maintain a $1 million life insurance policy naming her as the sole beneficiary but never secured the coverage. She is also seeking payment for additional financial commitments, including anniversary payments, Roth IRA contributions, and compensation for her work as his chief of staff.
The lawsuit argues that Malcolm’s estate may not have sufficient assets to satisfy these obligations, prompting claims against the Warner Family Trust, which is managed by Pamela Warner.
Estate and Family Trust at the Center of Dispute
The Warner Family Trust, established years before Malcolm’s marriage, has become the focus of the legal dispute. Tenisha contends that Malcolm intended to update his estate planning to include her and their daughter but passed away before completing those changes.
Pamela Warner has not publicly responded to the allegations, and the case is expected to proceed through the courts as both sides address the claims surrounding the trust and the late actor’s estate.
