Iowa Couple Arrested in Child Abuse Investigation
Authorities in Davenport, Iowa, have arrested Andrew C. Warrington, 48, and Kellie J. Warrington, 47, following allegations that their 10-year-old child was subjected to prolonged neglect and isolation. Investigators say the child was discovered in critical condition and required emergency medical treatment.
The couple has been charged with first-degree kidnapping, child endangerment, willful injury, and neglect or abandonment of a dependent person. Both are being held in the Scott County Jail on $2 million cash-only bonds.
Investigators Allege Child Was Deprived of Basic Needs
According to court documents, the child was allegedly confined to a bedroom without furniture for an extended period. Prosecutors claim the youngster was denied adequate food, water, light, and access to a bathroom.
Authorities also allege the child suffered physical injuries, including head trauma, and endured severe emotional and psychological harm. Medical officials reportedly stated that the child faced a risk of death without immediate intervention.
The child was later transported to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for treatment.
Alleged Isolation Helped Conceal Abuse
Investigators claim the parents limited the child’s contact with the outside world by preventing medical appointments and removing the child from church-related activities. Officials believe these actions helped conceal the alleged abuse for a significant period.
A preliminary hearing for both defendants is scheduled for June 16. The identity of the child has not been released.
