A Chandler, Arizona man is facing serious criminal charges after police say he stabbed his mother while she was asleep inside their home. Authorities described the incident as an unprovoked attack that left the woman with life-threatening injuries.
The suspect, identified as 25-year-old George Randall, was arrested shortly after officers responded to the home near Elliot and Alma School roads during the early hours of May 15.
Police Say Victim Was Attacked While Sleeping
According to investigators, officers arrived at the residence around 4:30 a.m. after receiving reports of a stabbing involving a family member. When emergency crews entered the home, they found the victim suffering from severe neck injuries.
The woman was rushed to a nearby hospital where she underwent emergency surgery. Officials later confirmed that she survived the attack and was listed in stable condition.
Authorities allege Randall intentionally targeted a vulnerable area during the assault. Prosecutors claimed in court that the suspect admitted he had thought about carrying out the attack for weeks before it happened.
Attempted Murder and Assault Charges Filed
Following the investigation, Randall was booked on charges including attempted first-degree murder and aggravated assault. Court officials reportedly set his bond at $1 million cash-only due to concerns surrounding public safety and his mental condition.
Police have not released a possible motive behind the violent incident, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Community Shocked by Violent Family Incident
Neighbors in the Chandler area were reportedly stunned by the violent nature of the attack. The quiet residential neighborhood became the center of a major police investigation as detectives gathered evidence throughout the day.
