Tragic Double Homicide Under Investigation in Ohio
Authorities in Lakewood, Ohio, are investigating a deadly shooting that claimed the lives of a well-known powerlifter and mother, Amanda Leigh Wakut, 33, and Richard Eastin, 35. Police say the suspected shooter, a 45-year-old man believed to be Wakut’s boyfriend, died by suicide after fleeing from the scene.
The incident unfolded on June 21 when officers responded to reports that a man had allegedly confessed to his ex-wife that he had shot two people and intended to take his own life.
Suspect Fled Before Taking His Own Life
According to investigators, officers arriving at the residence saw a pickup truck speeding away. A brief pursuit followed before the driver stopped, exited the vehicle with a firearm, and fatally shot himself while police attempted to negotiate with him.
Afterward, officers entered the home and discovered the bodies of Wakut and Eastin in the kitchen. Authorities have not disclosed the nature of the relationship between Wakut and Eastin and say the motive behind the shootings remains unknown.
The investigation is ongoing.
