Investigation Intensifies with Release of New Footage
Federal law enforcement officials have shared previously unseen surveillance stills and video linked to the disappearance of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, whose sudden vanishing from her Arizona home has drawn national attention. The newly released material depicts an individual captured on video near her front porch, potentially offering a key development in the ongoing search.
FBI Director Kash Patel posted the images online, showing a masked person in dark clothing and a backpack near the residence the morning Guthrie was last seen. The footage suggests the individual may have tampered with the home’s doorbell camera just hours before her disappearance was reported.
Recovered Footage Shows Person Of Interest at Scene
Investigators say the visuals came from a digital doorbell camera at Guthrie’s residence in the Tucson area, and were recovered from residual data even after the device was disconnected. The footage and photos show a figure wearing gloves and appearing to interfere with the camera, then adjusting objects near the entrance.
Law enforcement emphasised that while the individual is considered a subject the public can help identify, no formal suspect has been named. Officials are urging anyone who recognises the person or has information to contact the FBI’s tip line immediately.
Family Pleas and Investigative Status
Nancy Guthrie has been missing since early February 1, when she failed to attend a planned church service following an evening with family. Blood matching her DNA was later found on the home’s front porch, leading authorities to believe she was taken against her will.
Her daughter, national television host Savannah Guthrie, has issued emotional public appeals and shared the surveillance images on social media, pleading for help from the public. Despite alleged ransom demands received by media outlets, investigators have not confirmed any verified contact with potential kidnappers.
The FBI and the Pima County Sheriff’s Department continue to expand the investigation, offering a reward for information and following up on leads as the search moves forward
