A young law enforcement officer in Georgia is in custody after being charged with serious crimes involving a minor. The Gwinnett County Police Department confirmed that inappropriate communications between a teenage girl and a 21-year-old male deputy led to his arrest and subsequent firing from the sheriff’s office.

Allegations Lead to Arrest of Deputy

Authorities say the incident began when a parent discovered troubling messages exchanged between her daughter — under the age of 16 — and an adult male. Detectives with the Special Victims Unit traced the communications to Rylee Willis, a probationary deputy with the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office.

Willis was taken into custody and booked on two counts of child molestation and two counts of enticing a child for indecent purposes, all of which are felony charges. He remains held without bond at the Gwinnett County Jail pending further legal proceedings.

Employment Status and Department Response

At the time of his arrest, Willis was serving in a probationary role and had not yet completed the two-year evaluation period required for permanent status within the sheriff’s office. Following the arrest, the agency terminated his employment.

In a public statement, the sheriff’s office emphasized its commitment to high standards of professionalism and accountability in law enforcement — noting that officers and staff must meet strict conduct requirements.

Ongoing Investigation and Public Safety Resources

Officials have confirmed that the investigation is ongoing as detectives work to gather additional evidence in the case. The police department has urged community members to come forward with any relevant information.

Additionally, authorities remind anyone affected by child sexual abuse or exploitation to access support services and crisis hotlines available for victims and families.
