Peru Nightclub Bombing Leaves Dozens Injured, Including Teenagers

An early-morning explosion at a nightclub in northern Peru left more than 30 people injured, including several minors, after a blast tore through a crowded venue in the city of Trujillo. Authorities confirmed the incident occurred in the early hours of March 7, sending partygoers into panic and leaving many with serious injuries.

Emergency services rushed victims to nearby hospitals, where doctors treated injuries ranging from deep cuts caused by flying debris to severe trauma. Some victims required urgent surgery, highlighting the intensity of the explosion.

Officials said investigations are ongoing as police attempt to determine who was responsible and what motivated the attack.

Explosion Strikes During Nightclub Event

The blast occurred around 4 a.m. at the Dalí nightclub in Trujillo, located in Peru’s La Libertad region along the country’s northern coast. Witnesses said the explosion happened while a band was performing, abruptly interrupting the event and plunging the venue into chaos.

People inside the club reported hearing a loud boom before lights and sound equipment shut down. In the moments that followed, guests rushed toward exits as injured patrons lay on the floor.

Health authorities confirmed that more than 30 individuals were injured, including a 16-year-old and two 17-year-olds. Several victims suffered shrapnel wounds and severe injuries that required surgery, and at least a few were listed in critical condition.

Medical teams treated some of the most serious cases in trauma units due to the extent of their injuries.

Rising Crime Raises Concerns in the Region

The bombing comes amid growing concerns about crime and violence in Peru’s La Libertad region. Authorities say the area has seen a rise in explosive incidents connected to extortion networks and organized criminal groups.

Officials noted that dozens of explosions were reported in the region last year, many linked to criminal gangs targeting businesses for protection payments. The nightclub blast has intensified fears among residents and business owners about escalating violence in the city.

Police are continuing their investigation while security measures across nightlife venues are expected to be strengthened.
