Pennsylvania Suspect Arrested After Alleged Copper Wire Theft Scheme
A 41-year-old Pennsylvania man has been arrested after authorities say he involved a young child in a burglary at a commercial building in Bucks County.
According to investigators, officers responded to reports of a break-in at a property on Tremont Avenue in Bensalem during the afternoon hours of May 28. When police arrived, they reportedly found evidence of forced entry, including a damaged front door.
Inside the building, officers discovered a man allegedly removing copper wiring from an equipment room. An 11-year-old girl was also present at the scene.
Child Allegedly Asked to Assist During Break-In
Police say the suspect admitted that he had brought his girlfriend’s daughter with him during the burglary. Investigators allege the child was instructed to hold a flashlight while he cut and removed wiring from the building.
Authorities further claim the suspect intended to sell the stolen copper for profit. Officers reportedly recovered multiple tools and containers holding sections of cut wire inside the property.
The incident has drawn attention due to the alleged involvement of a minor in the commission of the crime.
Multiple Charges Filed, Bail Set at $150,000
The suspect has been charged with burglary, corruption of minors, and additional related offenses.
Court records show bail was set at $150,000, with a requirement that 10 percent be posted for release. Officials said the defendant was unable to meet the bail conditions and was transferred to the Bucks County Correctional Facility pending further court proceedings.
Law enforcement officials praised the responding officers, noting that their quick action helped prevent additional property damage and led to the suspect’s arrest at the scene.
