Infant Severely Wounded in Alleged Attack

In Coatesville, Pennsylvania, a local father has been taken into custody after authorities say he stabbed his three-month-old son and then threw the injured infant into the snow outside their apartment complex on Wednesday morning. The 44-year-old suspect was quickly arrested at the scene and now faces a series of serious charges related to the attack.

Responding officers found the infant gravely injured around 11:30 a.m. on Smithbridge Drive. First responders transported the baby to a nearby hospital before he was flown to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where doctors listed the child in critical but stable condition.

Alleged Motive and Police Statement

Investigators reported that the accused made troubling statements to law enforcement during the incident, referring to harming the baby as part of a “sacrifice.” Witnesses and neighbors described video footage from body cameras capturing the man making religious references at the scene.

Police were called after the baby’s mother fled with the infant and a 9-year-old sibling, seeking help. The suspect allegedly pursued them, grabbed the baby and threw him into the snow before law enforcement intervened.

Charges and Community Reaction

The suspect has been charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, child endangerment and other related offenses. He is being held without bail at the Chester County Prison as the investigation continues.

Neighbors expressed shock at the alleged attack, describing the family as close-knit and the father as a typically calm, quiet individual. Many in the community said they were stunned by the unexpected violence.
