Police Investigating Multiple Assault Allegations in St. Louis County
Authorities in Missouri are continuing an investigation after a 23-year-old man was charged in connection with multiple alleged sexual assaults involving women at a housing complex in St. Louis County.
According to investigators, Lorenzo Gaines faces several felony charges, including four counts of first-degree rape or attempted rape, one count of sodomy or attempted sodomy, and first-degree sexual abuse.
Police said the incidents reportedly happened between April and May at an apartment complex near Oxford Hills Drive. Detectives believe additional victims may exist and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
Investigators Say Victims Were Contacted Through Social Media
Court documents state that Gaines allegedly contacted some of the women through Instagram before arranging meetings at the apartment complex.
In one case, investigators said a woman agreed to meet him on April 9 after discussions about paid sexual activity. However, police allege she became uncomfortable and expressed hesitation before being forced into a public restroom and assaulted.
A second woman reportedly met Gaines the following day for what was described as a lunch date. Authorities claim she repeatedly told him “no” before the alleged assault took place inside the complex.
A third incident was reported on May 1, with police alleging another woman was sexually assaulted after agreeing to meet him.
Authorities Ask Potential Victims to Contact Detectives
The St. Louis County Police Department said investigators are actively searching for other possible victims connected to the case.
Officials encouraged anyone who may have had contact with Gaines or experienced a similar incident to reach out to detectives handling crimes against persons investigations.
Court records show Gaines remains in custody while awaiting upcoming court proceedings, including a bond reduction hearing. The investigation remains ongoing.
