Indiana Woman Faces Murder Charge Following Father’s Death
A 32-year-old woman from Indiana has been charged with murder after authorities discovered her father dead inside the home they shared in Morgan Township. Investigators allege the victim suffered multiple sharp-force injuries in a case that has shocked the local community.
According to law enforcement, officers responded to a welfare check on July 26 after family members became concerned when the victim stopped answering phone calls. The incident is being treated as isolated, and officials say there is no ongoing threat to the public.
Police Found Victim During Welfare Check
When officers arrived at the residence, they reportedly observed signs of a violent crime before entering the home. Inside, they found 69-year-old Gregory Dolnics deceased with multiple injuries. Investigators allege his chest had been opened and that his heart had been removed and placed on his body.
Authorities also located Serena Dolnics inside the residence. Court documents state she had blood on her clothing and body when officers found her. She was taken into custody without further incident.
Police recovered three knives believed to be connected to the investigation. Medical staff later noted injuries on the suspect’s hand that investigators say were consistent with a knife slipping during use.
Family Raised Concerns Before Police Response
Court records indicate relatives became alarmed after Gregory Dolnics stopped communicating with them. They reportedly said Serena had been making unusual statements whenever they tried to speak with him.
The documents also state that Serena’s boyfriend contacted the victim’s family shortly before police were called, claiming he had seen her covered in blood and expressing concern for her well-being.
Despite allegedly telling investigators that she and her father had a good relationship, authorities proceeded with a murder charge based on evidence collected at the scene.
Court Proceedings Underway
Serena Dolnics was formally charged with one count of murder and has pleaded not guilty. She is currently being held without bond while the criminal case moves forward through the Indiana court system.
