Armed attackers riding on dozens of motorcycles launched a deadly assault on a community in Nigeria’s central Kogi State on Wednesday, killing three people, including a school vice principal, according to authorities.
The attack targeted Iluke Bunu community and spread to a secondary school area, adding to concerns over the safety of schools and residents in parts of the country affected by recurring violence.

A fierce exchange of gunfire forced the assailants to retreat into nearby bushland. Officials confirmed that one suspected attacker was killed during the confrontation, while a security operative sustained injuries.
Authorities have launched search operations to track down the fleeing gunmen.
Victims Include School Vice Principal and Child
Among those killed were the vice principal of the local secondary school, a 70-year-old resident, and a six-year-old child.
