A chaotic shooting incident unfolded near Boston when a man carrying an assault-style rifle allegedly fired dozens of rounds at moving vehicles along a busy roadway, leaving two people seriously injured before police and an armed civilian stopped the attack.
Authorities said the violence erupted Monday afternoon on Memorial Drive in Cambridge, Massachusetts, causing panic among drivers and pedestrians in the heavily traveled area near the Charles River. Investigators reported that the suspect fired repeatedly at random vehicles, striking multiple cars and triggering a massive emergency response.
Two Victims Suffer Critical Injuries
Officials confirmed that two men traveling in separate vehicles sustained life-threatening gunshot wounds during the attack. Emergency crews rushed both victims to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Witnesses described terrifying scenes as drivers abandoned their vehicles, ducked for cover, and tried to escape the gunfire. Several vehicles, including a Massachusetts State Police cruiser, were reportedly damaged by bullets during the incident.
Law enforcement officials said the suspect fired more than 50 rounds while moving through traffic.
Trooper and Armed Civilian Stop the Shooting

The suspect, identified as 46-year-old Tyler Brown of Boston, was struck multiple times and taken into custody. Officials said his injuries were not considered life-threatening.
