A brutal armed attack in Mexico’s Puebla state left 10 people dead early Sunday, according to local authorities. The incident took place in the municipality of Tehuitzingo, where gunmen reportedly opened fire on a group of residents inside a property.
Officials confirmed that the victims included six men, three women, and one child. Emergency responders arrived after receiving reports from local residents, but several victims were already dead at the scene.
State and federal authorities have started a large-scale investigation to identify the attackers and determine the motive behind the massacre.
Authorities Launch Investigation
Security officials said police officers responded after receiving emergency calls about multiple people with gunshot wounds. Investigators later secured the area while forensic teams collected evidence.
Authorities have not yet announced any arrests or identified possible suspects. Puebla’s public security department stated that intelligence operations are underway and promised there would be “zero impunity” for those responsible.
Federal agencies have also joined the investigation as concerns grow over increasing violence in central Mexico.
Rising Violence in Puebla
The latest killings add to a series of violent incidents reported in Puebla this year. Earlier attacks in other parts of the state also resulted in multiple deaths, raising concerns about organized crime activity and regional security.
Recent cartel-related violence across central Mexico has forced hundreds of families to flee their homes in some affected areas. Security experts say criminal groups continue battling for territorial control in several states.
Despite the growing violence, local leaders have not yet provided detailed comments regarding the latest attack.
Community in Shock After Mass Killing
Residents in Tehuitzingo were left shaken by the deadly assault, with many calling for stronger security measures and faster action from authorities.
Investigators continue to examine evidence and interview witnesses as the search for those responsible remains ongoing.
