Canadian Business Tycoon Found Guilty on Two Charges
Canadian billionaire and Magna founder Frank Stronach has been convicted of one count of sexual assault and one count of indecent assault in Ontario. The court’s ruling relates to allegations involving two women and incidents dating back to the late 1970s and early 1980s.
The 93-year-old entrepreneur had denied all accusations during the trial. Proceedings began earlier this year and covered allegations brought forward by multiple complainants.
Court Clears Stronach of Several Other Allegations
Ontario Superior Court Justice Anne Molloy delivered the verdict after reviewing testimony and evidence presented during the trial. While Stronach was found guilty on two charges, he was acquitted of several others, and some charges were withdrawn before the conclusion of the case.
According to court proceedings, the convictions stemmed from incidents involving two women who testified about events that allegedly took place decades ago.
Sentencing to Follow as Additional Trial Looms
Stronach’s legal team expressed disappointment with the convictions but welcomed the dismissal of more serious allegations. A sentencing hearing is expected to take place later this year.
The billionaire businessman, who built Magna International into one of the world’s largest automotive parts companies, is also expected to face another sexual assault trial next year involving separate allegations.
