Nebraska Groom Accused of Sexually Assaulting Woman Hours Before Wedding

A Nebraska man is facing serious criminal charges after authorities say he allegedly sexually assaulted an 18-year-old woman in the early morning hours before his wedding. Tyler Webber, 33, has been charged with first-degree sexual assault and first-degree false imprisonment in connection with the alleged incident.

Alleged Assault Reported Before Wedding

The Scotts Bluff County Sheriff’s Office was notified of the alleged assault on May 30. According to an affidavit cited in the case, the woman had been at a residence the night before Webber’s wedding while people involved in the wedding preparations were getting things ready.

The woman told investigators that members of the wedding party had been drinking. She planned to remain at the residence overnight and later went upstairs to retrieve a blanket.

According to the affidavit, Webber followed her as she came back downstairs. The woman alleged that he grabbed her around the waist when she attempted to pull away and pinned her against the stairs.

She subsequently told authorities that Webber sexually assaulted her on a couch.

Woman Sought Medical Care After Alleged Attack

Following the alleged incident, the woman told her husband and father what had happened. They encouraged her to seek medical attention, and she went to a hospital where a sexual assault examination was conducted.

The investigation later produced forensic evidence that authorities say linked Webber to the alleged incident.

On August 4, investigators received a DNA report from the University of Nebraska Medical Center Forensic Department. According to the affidavit, testing found Webber’s DNA on the woman.

Investigators said the DNA findings conflicted with Webber’s reported claim that he had not had any sexual contact with her.

Nebraska Man Has Not Entered a Plea

Webber is currently facing charges of first-degree sexual assault and first-degree false imprisonment. The case remains under investigation by authorities in Scotts Bluff County.

Webber has not yet entered a plea in the case. The allegations against him have not been proven in court, and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
