Teen Charged After Deadly Random Attack in East St. Louis
A 15-year-old boy is facing a first-degree murder charge after authorities say he fatally stabbed a 78-year-old man during what investigators describe as a random attack in East St. Louis, Illinois.
The victim, identified as John W. Allen, was discovered with multiple stab wounds near a bus stop earlier this week. According to investigators, the teenager was allegedly dressed in a clown costume at the time of the incident. Police arrested the suspect at a nearby residence shortly after the attack.
The teenager’s identity has not been released because of his age. He appeared in juvenile court and will remain in custody while the case moves forward.
Investigators Reviewing Surveillance Footage
Law enforcement officials said surveillance video played a key role in identifying the suspect. Footage reportedly captured the teenager wearing the clown costume before and around the time of the fatal stabbing.

John W. Allen was remembered by family and community members as a retired bus driver, U.S. Navy veteran, and active church member. His death has shocked residents, with many expressing concern over the seemingly unprovoked nature of the attack.
