Police Investigation Intensifies After Grisly Discovery in Greece
Greek authorities are continuing their investigation after the body of a British woman was discovered inside a suitcase in an abandoned building in Athens. The shocking case has prompted an extensive police operation as investigators work to determine the exact circumstances surrounding her death and identify everyone connected to the incident.
The victim, identified as 38-year-old Elisabeth-Jane Ross from Scotland, had traveled to Greece in late June. Her body was found on July 18 after a homeless man noticed a strong odor coming from a suitcase inside a vacant building in the Kypseli district of the Greek capital.
Surveillance Footage and Financial Records Lead Investigators
Police launched a large-scale investigation using CCTV footage, financial transaction records, and forensic evidence. Investigators tracked activity linked to the victim’s bank cards after her disappearance, helping them identify a key suspect.
Authorities later detained a 26-year-old Afghan national, who is accused of involvement in the case. According to investigators, the suspect allegedly used the victim’s bank cards and was connected to the apartment where she had been staying.
The suspect is facing charges including homicide, robbery, and weapons-related offenses. Police are also examining evidence recovered during searches connected to the investigation.
