Iran Carries Out Executions in Espionage Case

Iran has executed two Iranian men after convicting them of allegedly working with Israel and providing sensitive military and security information to Israeli intelligence, according to state media. The executions took place on Monday as Tehran continues to tighten its response to what it describes as national security threats.

Officials said the two men were found guilty of espionage and cooperation with Israel. Authorities claimed they passed the locations of military and security facilities, along with intelligence and images, to Israeli contacts during recent periods of conflict.

Authorities Say Intelligence Was Shared During Recent Conflicts

Iran’s judiciary identified the executed men as Omid Behzad and Pouria Safvat. Officials alleged that they transmitted information about strategic military and security sites, helping Israeli intelligence gather operational details during recent hostilities involving Iran.

State media did not disclose when the suspects were arrested or provide additional details about the court proceedings before the death sentences were carried out.

Executions Reflect Broader National Security Campaign

The latest executions come as Iran continues to increase penalties in cases linked to alleged espionage and national security offenses. Authorities have intensified action against individuals accused of cooperating with foreign intelligence agencies following months of heightened regional tensions and military confrontations.

The executions were announced on the same day that international attention remained focused on diplomatic developments involving Iran, although Iranian officials stated there were no direct negotiations taking place with the United States at the time.
