Ukrainian Man Receives Seven-Year Prison Sentence
A British court has sentenced a 22-year-old Ukrainian national to seven years in prison after he was found guilty of carrying out a series of arson attacks targeting properties associated with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
The incidents took place over several days in London and involved fires at two homes connected to Starmer, along with a vehicle previously owned by the British leader. Authorities said the attacks endangered lives and caused fear among residents.
Another man, a 27-year-old Romanian citizen born in Ukraine, was sentenced to two years in jail after being convicted of conspiracy to commit arson.
Investigators Say Attacks Were Coordinated Online
Prosecutors told the court that the main suspect had been contacted through Telegram by an individual using the alias “El Money.” Messages exchanged in Russian and Ukrainian allegedly included instructions and promises of financial rewards in cryptocurrency.
According to investigators, the convicted men were not driven by political beliefs and claimed they did not know the properties were linked to the prime minister.
The identity of the person behind the online account remains unknown, and authorities continue to investigate possible connections.
Judge Condemns Reckless Actions
During sentencing, the judge criticized the attacks, saying they put innocent people at risk and described the main offender as someone who had been manipulated by others.
One of the targeted properties was occupied by relatives of Prime Minister Starmer, adding to concerns over public safety. Officials emphasized that such acts threaten democratic institutions and praised law enforcement agencies for successfully bringing the offenders to justice.
