Pam Bondi Says Former Deputy Managed Epstein Document Release
Former U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi has stated that the release of Jeffrey Epstein-related records was primarily handled by her former deputy, Todd Blanche, during a congressional inquiry examining the Justice Department’s actions.
The comments came during a House Oversight Committee investigation focused on how federal authorities managed the disclosure of documents connected to the late financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The case continues to attract significant public and political attention due to ongoing questions about transparency and accountability.
Bondi Points to Todd Blanche as Lead Official
During her testimony, Bondi said that Blanche was responsible for overseeing the overall process of reviewing and releasing the Epstein files. She explained that while she led the Justice Department at the time, she delegated much of the operational management of the document release to senior officials.
Bondi acknowledged that some mistakes occurred during the process, including redaction issues that sparked criticism from lawmakers and victims’ advocates. However, she defended the department’s broader efforts and maintained that officials were working to comply with legal disclosure requirements.
Her remarks have fueled debate over who should be held accountable for the handling of the records and whether additional information remains unreleased.
Questions Remain Over Transparency and Missing Records
Members of Congress continue to scrutinize the Justice Department’s management of the Epstein files. Several lawmakers have argued that more documents may still need to be disclosed and have called for additional testimony from current Justice Department and FBI officials.
The controversy has intensified amid concerns about privacy protections, redaction procedures, and the release of sensitive material connected to victims and witnesses.
Critics have also questioned whether the public has received a complete picture of the government’s investigation into Epstein and his associates.
Bondi Declines to Discuss Trump-Related Questions
According to lawmakers involved in the inquiry, Bondi declined to answer questions regarding former President Donald Trump and any discussions related to the release of Epstein records.
She also stated that she was not involved in certain later decisions surrounding the case after leaving office. The committee is expected to continue its investigation and may seek testimony from additional officials in the coming months.
As congressional scrutiny continues, the handling of the Epstein files remains one of the most closely watched political and legal controversies in Washington.
