Deadly Shooting Shocks Las Vegas Community
A tragic shooting inside a Las Vegas grocery store has left two people dead after a man allegedly opened fire on his ex-wife and her new husband during a child custody dispute, according to police.
Authorities identified the suspect as 43-year-old Alejandro Estrada. Investigators say he entered a Smith’s grocery store armed with multiple weapons and targeted Amanda Rosas and her husband, Victor Frias Rosas, both employees at the store.
Police said the shooting happened in front of terrified shoppers and workers. The victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses described a chaotic moment as customers screamed and ran for safety while the suspect reportedly remained calm during the attack.
Custody Battle Reportedly Led to Tensions
Investigators revealed that Estrada and Amanda Rosas had been involved in a difficult custody dispute over their two children, a 12-year-old son and a 9-year-old daughter.
Court records reportedly showed that Estrada also owed thousands of dollars in child support payments at the time of the shooting.
The deadly incident happened on the couple’s son’s birthday, adding another heartbreaking detail to the case. Officials confirmed that neither child was present during the shooting.
Police believe the attack was targeted and linked to ongoing personal conflicts between the former couple.
Shoppers Help Stop Suspect Before Police Arrive
Several bystanders reportedly acted quickly after the shooting, tackling the suspect and holding him down until officers arrived at the store.
Police praised the actions of those who intervened, saying their bravery likely prevented additional injuries or deaths.
Estrada was later taken into custody and transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries before being booked on multiple charges, including two counts of murder.
The investigation remains ongoing as detectives continue reviewing evidence and witness statements connected to the case.
