Chicago police have issued a community safety alert following an attempted sexual assault reported in the city’s Humboldt Park neighborhood. The unsettling encounter occurred midday, prompting local law enforcement to urge residents and visitors to be vigilant when travelling through the area.

According to authorities, the incident unfolded shortly after 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday along the 4600 block of West North Avenue, a well-traveled section of the West Side community. A man allegedly forcefully pushed a woman toward her vehicle and attempted to assault her before fleeing the scene.

Witnesses say the suspect escaped in a white SUV equipped with a sunroof, bearing Illinois license plates. Police believe he may still be in the area and are asking anyone with information to come forward.

Authorities describe the suspect as a man between 30 and 40 years old, standing around 5 feet 8 inches tall. At the time of the incident, he was seen wearing a white shirt, jeans, and a black leather jacket.
