Tragic Shooting at Turkish School Shocks Nation
A deadly shooting at a middle school in southeastern Turkey has left at least four people dead and around 20 others injured, marking one of the most alarming school violence incidents in the country in recent years.
The attack took place in the Kahramanmaras province, where a student reportedly opened fire inside school premises. Authorities confirmed that the victims include three students and one teacher, while several injured individuals remain in critical condition.
The suspect, identified as a fellow student, also died during the incident. Officials say the motive behind the attack is still under investigation.
Gunman Used Multiple Weapons Inside Classrooms
Initial findings suggest the attacker brought multiple firearms and ammunition to school, allegedly sourced from a family member. The student entered classrooms and began shooting indiscriminately, causing panic among young students and staff.
Eyewitness accounts and early visuals indicate chaos inside the school, with students attempting to escape, some even jumping from windows to avoid gunfire. Emergency teams rushed to the scene, and injured victims were quickly transported to nearby hospitals.
Security forces secured the area soon after, and an official investigation has been launched.
Second School Shooting in Turkey Within 48 Hours
This tragedy comes just a day after another school shooting in the Sanliurfa region, where a former student injured at least 16 people before taking his own life.
The back-to-back incidents have sparked national concern, especially in a country where school shootings are considered rare. Authorities are now facing increased pressure to review school safety measures and firearm access.
Government officials have assured the public that strict action will be taken, and investigations into both incidents are ongoing.
