Nigerian Police Uncover Possible Organ-Harvesting Ring After Grisly Find in Imo State

Nigerian Police Uncover Possible Organ-Harvesting Ring After Grisly Find in Imo State G7kza0 XwAA5 0L

Police in southeast Nigeria have launched an urgent probe after a shocking discovery — dozens of mutilated corpses found in a hotel and private mortuary allegedly owned by a suspected kidnapper. The grisly find has raised fears of an illicit organ-harvesting operation, prompting authorities to shut down the premises and hunt down all involved parties.

Raid Yields Over 100 Decomposed Bodies

In a weekend operation in the Umuhu area of the Ngor-Okpala district, security forces — acting on intelligence — sealed off a hotel and an adjacent private mortuary. Inside, they discovered more than 100 decomposed and mutilated corpses. The gruesome condition of the bodies triggered suspicions of illegal organ harvesting and possible ritual killings.

Forensic teams, working in collaboration with local health officials and law enforcement, recovered critical evidence from the site. Authorities have since declared the suspected owner wanted, and the investigation is now in full swing.

Investigation Underway — Suspect Declared Wanted

Police spokesperson in Imo State said all accomplices will be traced and brought to justice. The suspect’s residence was also searched, resulting in further evidence seizure — though the details have not been publicly disclosed.

Officials emphasised that this discovery is part of a worrying trend: criminal networks in the region quietly evolving from kidnappings into more dangerous ventures, including suspected organ-trafficking and ritualistic practices.

Public Outcry & Calls for Swift Justice

News of the horrifying find has sparked outrage and fear among communities in Imo State and beyond. Local leaders and civil-society organisations are demanding swift action and transparency in the probe, urging authorities to ensure that all individuals involved — from alleged perpetrators to enablers — are held accountable.

Observers warn that unless such rings are dismantled quickly, endangered individuals remain vulnerable to abduction, forced organ removal, and other heinous crimes. Many are calling for stricter oversight and better policing of private mortuaries and unregistered medical facilities.
