Laredo Records Its Eighth Homicide of 2025 After Early-Morning Shooting Leaves One Dead, Another Injured Crime Scene

A pre-dawn shooting in Laredo early Sunday has been officially classified as the city’s eighth homicide of 2025. Law enforcement responded at approximately 1:08 a.m. after receiving reports of a shooting on North Meadow Avenue near Piedra China. One man succumbed to his injuries, while another was wounded and remains in hospital as the investigation continues.


Victim Dies; Second Man Wounded

Police discovered a 35-year-old man critically injured at the scene. He was rushed to a local hospital but pronounced dead at 9:28 a.m. — prompting authorities to rule the incident a murder. A 41-year-old man was also shot, suffering a wound to his lower torso, and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Officers closed both directions of Meadow Avenue near Piedra China to secure the area and conduct their initial investigation. The street closure caused traffic disruptions early Sunday morning.


Police Release Person-of-Interest Image; Public Asked for Tips

Investigators have released an image of a person of interest believed to be connected to the shooting. Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact them — tips may be submitted anonymously through the hotline provided.

The police department emphasized the seriousness of the incident and asked residents to come forward if they witnessed anything. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
