Deadly Gun Attack Shocks Southern Spain
A tragic shooting in the southern Spanish city of El Ejido has claimed the lives of at least two people and left four others seriously injured, according to authorities. The violent incident took place late Monday night in the province of Almeria, triggering a major police response and widespread concern across the region.
Spanish law enforcement officials confirmed that a 25-year-old man was arrested several hours after the shooting. Officers from specialized police units reportedly detained the suspect during an overnight operation.
Victims Hospitalized After Late-Night Violence
Emergency services rushed multiple victims to nearby hospitals following the attack. Authorities stated that four people suffered serious injuries, including minors. Investigators said the wounded included a man, a woman, and two children.
Police reports indicate the shooting happened shortly after 11 p.m. local time. Witnesses in the area described scenes of panic as emergency teams and security forces arrived at the location.
Police Investigating Motive and Weapon Source
Investigators are currently examining the motive behind the shooting, with early findings pointing toward a possible domestic violence-related case. Authorities are also trying to determine how the suspect obtained the firearm, as officials confirmed he did not possess a legal gun license.
Gun-related violence remains relatively rare in Spain due to the country’s strict firearm regulations. The incident has nevertheless raised fresh concerns over public safety and illegal weapon access in the region.
