South African police have arrested three people in connection with the murder of a woman whose body was discovered in Dawn Park, Boksburg, east of Johannesburg. The arrests come as authorities investigate a series of nine killings involving women in the Ekurhuleni area over the past two months.

The suspects, consisting of one man and two women, were arrested over the weekend by officers from the Gauteng Murder and Robbery Unit. They were expected to appear before the Boksburg Magistrates’ Court on Monday, September 21.

Three Suspects Arrested in Dawn Park Murder Case

The latest case involves the ninth woman identified in a series of murder investigations currently being handled by police in Gauteng. Her body was discovered in Dawn Park on September 17, adding to growing concerns about violence against women in the region.

Police have not confirmed that the nine cases are connected. Investigators are examining each incident separately while also looking for possible links between them.

South African authorities said the three arrested suspects are currently being investigated specifically in relation to the Dawn Park murder. Additional details are expected to emerge as the case proceeds through court.

Police Investigate Nine Women’s Deaths

The discovery of the latest victim follows eight other cases involving women whose bodies were found in different parts of Ekurhuleni during the previous two months.

Several of the victims were young women, and some cases reportedly showed similarities that have led investigators to examine whether there could be a connection between the incidents.

Police have urged communities to provide information that could help investigators establish what happened in each case and identify those responsible.

Deputy National Police Commissioner Tebello Mosikili said investigators were working to establish the facts surrounding every death. Police have also warned that the investigations remain ongoing and that no conclusions about links between the cases should be drawn before the evidence is established.

Gender-Based Violence Remains a Major Concern

The arrests come amid continuing public concern about gender-based violence and femicide in South Africa. The country has faced longstanding challenges involving violence against women, prompting repeated calls for stronger action from authorities and greater protection for vulnerable communities.

Police said more than 350 people were arrested for rape during the previous week as part of a wider crackdown on violence against women.

Authorities have emphasized that the nine murder investigations are receiving priority attention. Investigators are continuing to follow leads and gather evidence as they work to determine the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

The three suspects arrested in the Dawn Park case are expected to face the court as the investigation continues.
