Patrick Clancy has spoken publicly for the first time since the mistrial in the case involving his former wife, Lindsay Clancy, who was accused of killing their three young children in Massachusetts in January 2023.

In a televised interview, Patrick described the devastating aftermath of the deaths of Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, who was 8 months old. He also discussed Lindsay’s worsening mental health before the killings, his decision to forgive her and the emotional toll the case has taken on him.

The trial ended in a mistrial on September 4, 2026, after jurors could not reach a unanimous decision about whether Lindsay was criminally responsible for the children’s deaths.

Patrick Clancy Describes Lindsay’s Mental Health Struggles

Patrick said he began noticing significant changes in Lindsay’s behavior several months after the birth of their youngest child. According to his account, she experienced severe sleep deprivation, depression and intrusive thoughts during late 2022.

Lindsay received psychiatric treatment and was hospitalized around the beginning of 2023. Patrick said he did not fully understand postpartum mental illness at the time and struggled to recognize how serious her condition had become.

On January 24, 2023, Lindsay was accused of strangling the couple’s three children at their home in Duxbury, Massachusetts, before attempting to take her own life. Patrick returned home after being asked to leave briefly and discovered the children and Lindsay injured.

Cora and Dawson died that day. Callan was transported to Boston Children’s Hospital but died several days later from his injuries.

Lindsay’s defense argued during the trial that she was experiencing postpartum psychosis and therefore should not be held criminally responsible. Prosecutors disputed that position and argued that she deliberately killed the children.

Mistrial Leaves the Case Unresolved

The murder trial lasted several weeks before ending without a verdict. Jurors were unable to reach the unanimous decision required to resolve the criminal responsibility question, leading the court to declare a mistrial.

Patrick also described the emotional impact of appearing as a witness. During the proceedings, he experienced a severe panic attack shortly before jurors were due to hear the 911 call he made after discovering his children.

He said the experience brought back the trauma of the night of the killings.

The Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office has not announced whether Lindsay will face another trial. She remains in Massachusetts custody while the next steps in the case are considered.

Patrick Speaks About Forgiveness and Online Claims

Patrick said he has forgiven Lindsay, explaining that he believes her mental illness played a central role in what happened. He said holding on to anger would have made it even more difficult for him to move forward.

He also addressed conspiracy theories and accusations circulating online about his involvement in the deaths. Patrick rejected those claims and said they have shifted attention away from the broader issue of perinatal mental health.

The tragedy has had a profound effect on his life. Patrick said he experienced suicidal thoughts after losing his children and eventually moved from Massachusetts to New York, where he found that being less publicly recognized allowed him to grieve more privately.

He has since remarried Rachel Danis, who has spoken about supporting him while he continues to remember Cora, Dawson and Callan.

Patrick said he continues to dream about his children and wants their memories to remain part of his family’s future. He also said he hopes his children will be remembered not only for the circumstances of their deaths but for the lives they had.

The legal case surrounding Lindsay Clancy remains unresolved following the mistrial, while Patrick continues to speak about grief, forgiveness and the importance of understanding serious mental health conditions associated with pregnancy and the postpartum period.
