Prediction markets platform Kalshi is teaming up with Nasdaq to strengthen oversight of trading activity on its exchange. Under a new multi-year agreement, Kalshi will integrate Nasdaq’s market surveillance technology with its existing monitoring systems to improve the detection of suspicious trading and potential market abuse.
The partnership comes as prediction markets expand rapidly and regulators increase their focus on insider trading, manipulation and other risks associated with these platforms.
Nasdaq Technology to Monitor Trading Activity
Kalshi plans to use Nasdaq’s advanced surveillance platform to analyze trading activity across its event contracts and perpetual futures markets. The technology is designed to identify unusual patterns and potential violations in real time, giving Kalshi additional tools to investigate questionable transactions.
The company already operates its own surveillance systems and has been expanding its compliance and monitoring capabilities. The Nasdaq integration is expected to provide additional scale as trading volumes and the range of markets offered by Kalshi continue to grow.
Nasdaq’s surveillance technology is used across more than 50 exchanges and by over 20 global regulators, giving Kalshi access to technology developed for large and complex financial markets.
Growing Focus on Insider Trading Risks
The agreement arrives as prediction markets face heightened scrutiny over whether participants can use confidential or non-public information to gain an advantage.
Kalshi has been referring suspicious trading activity to regulators, while authorities have increasingly examined the safeguards used by prediction-market operators to identify and prevent potential insider trading.
The company has also faced greater attention as its platform expands into additional financial products. The broader growth of prediction markets has increased the importance of monitoring trades and maintaining market integrity.
Partnership to Support Regulatory Compliance
In addition to detecting potentially abusive trading behavior, the Nasdaq system is expected to help streamline Kalshi’s reporting processes to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.
Kalshi executive Max Crowley said the partnership is intended to reinforce the company’s commitment to maintaining fair and trustworthy markets. The integration will give the platform more sophisticated surveillance capabilities while supporting its regulatory obligations.
As prediction markets become a larger part of the financial trading landscape, stronger surveillance systems could become increasingly important for operators seeking to demonstrate that their markets are properly monitored and protected against manipulation.
