A Buffalo, New York, mother of four has died following a suspected domestic violence shooting, leaving her family and loved ones mourning the loss of a woman remembered for her kindness, warmth and devotion to her children.

Shatisha Dade, 32, was shot on the evening of July 31, according to authorities. She was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, where she died the following day.

Her death has led to the arrest of her boyfriend, 36-year-old Ramone P. James of Buffalo, who is facing charges in connection with the fatal shooting.

Shatisha Dade Dies After July 31 Shooting

Dade was shot on July 31 and later taken to a hospital for treatment. Despite efforts to save her, she died on Aug. 1.

James was arrested on Aug. 2 and charged with second-degree murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Investigators also carried out a search at a residence on Kiefer Street in Buffalo following the arrest. Authorities allege that an illegal pistol was recovered during the search.

James appeared in court following his arrest and entered a not-guilty plea through his attorney. He was denied bail and is scheduled to return to court on Aug. 31. His attorney has not publicly commented on the allegations.

Family Remembers Her as a Loving Mother

Dade’s family is remembering her not only as a mother but also as someone who brought compassion and positivity to the people around her.

Her maternal grandmother, Beverly Anderson, described Dade as a beautiful young woman who did not deserve the tragedy that happened to her.

Anderson said the family has been devastated by the loss and is struggling to cope with having to bury a loved one so unexpectedly.

Dade worked as a health aide caring for elderly people and hoped to eventually become a nurse. Her 13-year-old daughter, Serenity, was especially important to her.

According to a fundraising campaign established following Dade’s death, Serenity had recently graduated from eighth grade. Dade was reportedly extremely proud to see her daughter reach that milestone.

Fundraiser Honors Dade’s Legacy

A fundraising campaign has been created to help support Serenity and assist the family with funeral expenses.

Those close to Dade describe her as a caring person who enjoyed cooking, particularly preparing large family-style meals. She was also remembered for finding something encouraging to say about others and making people feel appreciated.

Her family hopes that those who knew her will remember the positive impact she had on their lives rather than allowing the circumstances of her death to define her legacy.

The investigation and criminal case against James remain ongoing.
