California Police Release Video of Accidental Shooting Between Officers
Authorities in Pasadena, California, have released video footage showing a police officer accidentally shooting a colleague during what officials described as inappropriate behavior involving loaded weapons. The incident happened in September 2025 inside the department’s parking structure while officers were preparing for duty.
One officer suffered injuries but has since fully recovered. The identities of the officers involved have not been publicly disclosed.
Investigation Continues as Officials Condemn Conduct
Police Chief Gene Harris called the incident unacceptable and said the actions shown in the video violated department policies. According to investigators, officers were engaged in unsafe horseplay when the shooting occurred.
The footage was made public this week after investigators completed key steps in the case. Officials said the release had been delayed to protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation.
The Pasadena Police Department and the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office are reviewing all available evidence, including video recordings, witness accounts, and forensic findings.
Dashcam Footage Shows Moments Before the Shooting
Video captured inside the parking facility shows officers gathered around patrol vehicles before the accidental discharge occurred. Other officers immediately rushed to assist the injured colleague after the gunshot.
Department leaders have not announced whether any disciplinary actions or administrative leave measures have been taken. Officials confirmed that the investigation remains active.
