Young Survivor Enjoying a Happy Life Years After Rescue
Almost five years after a terrifying ordeal that captured worldwide attention, Australian child Cleo Smith is now living a joyful and active life. The youngster, who was abducted from her family’s campsite in Western Australia in October 2021, has grown into a happy child with a love for sports and school.
According to her mother, Ellie Smith, Cleo enjoys spending time with friends and her younger sister, Isla, and has embraced several hobbies, including swimming and gymnastics.
From Tragic Disappearance to Remarkable Recovery
Cleo was just four years old when she vanished from her family’s tent during a camping trip near Carnarvon. Authorities launched a massive search effort, and after 18 days she was found alive inside a locked room at a home roughly 62 miles away.
Police reunited the young girl with her family, and she was reported to be physically unharmed. The man responsible, Terence Darrell Kelly, later admitted to abducting the child and received a prison sentence of 13 years and six months, with parole eligibility after serving 11 years and six months.
Gymnastics Becomes Her Biggest Passion
Now approaching her ninth birthday, Cleo has developed a strong passion for gymnastics. She recently traveled overseas to Singapore to compete in an international gymnastics event, marking her first trip abroad.
Videos shared by her family show her confidently performing routines featuring cartwheels, rolls, jumps, and dance movements. Her mother describes her as a cheerful and energetic child who continues to embrace life with enthusiasm.
