In a startling development linked to the ongoing regional conflict, three American F-15E Strike Eagle fighter jets were unintentionally downed by Kuwaiti air defence systems late Sunday night, U.S. military officials confirmed. The incident occurred amid heightened military operations involving Iranian forces, and all six aircrew members successfully ejected and were recovered in stable condition.

Friendly Fire Incident During Active Combat

According to a statement released by U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), the three F-15E jets were flying over Kuwaiti airspace in support of combat operations when the country’s air defence mistakenly identified them as hostile targets. The aircraft were part of ongoing missions in the broader regional campaign involving ballistic missiles, drone strikes and hostile aircraft activity attributed to Iranian forces.

All Crew Members Safe, Investigation Underway

Military officials emphasized that all six airmen aboard the downed fighters ejected safely and were quickly located and transported to medical facilities in stable condition. Kuwaiti authorities acknowledged the incident and have expressed cooperation with U.S. military leaders. An official investigation has been launched to determine the exact circumstances that led to the friendly fire event.

Regional Context and Ongoing Conflict

The shootdown adds to a series of tense events in the Middle East as clashes escalate between U.S.-aligned forces and Iranian military units. The heightened state of combat and air operations in the region has increased the risk of such misidentifications, prompting calls for improved coordination among allied defence systems.
