Heartbreaking Crash Leaves Singer Fighting for Life
Country music artist JD Graham is in critical condition after a devastating highway collision on Feb. 24 that left him with multiple serious injuries and fighting to recover. The Oklahoma-born singer, known for his soulful Americana and Red Dirt music, was involved in a violent crash on an interstate in New Mexico when his vehicle was struck by a semi-truck and pushed into another. Emergency crews had to extract him before he was airlifted to a Texas trauma center where he remains under intensive care.
Severe Injuries and Emotional Toll
Graham sustained a broken neck, back and several ribs in the accident, and in a hospital video update he described himself as “barely alive,” recounting the physical pain and emotional trauma of the incident. He also revealed the heartbreaking loss of his dog, who was with him in the vehicle at the time of the collision.
Medical teams are carefully evaluating the full extent of his injuries. Although Graham has regained some movement, doctors warn that his road to recovery will be long and difficult, likely involving extensive rehabilitation.
Family Support and Community Response
In light of the overwhelming medical needs and ongoing treatments, Graham’s daughters launched a fundraising campaign to help cover hospital bills and support the family during this challenging time. His wife, Amy, was recently recovering from her own health battle and is currently unable to work, making the financial assistance crucial. Support from fans, friends and fellow musicians has poured in, with benefit events being organized to aid the family.
Despite this setback, the singer was preparing to release a new project titled Uppers and Downers in early March — a hopeful milestone now postponed as he focuses on healing.
